The Piping Museum, Glasgow (with KSLD)
Exhibition Design: Lee Boyd Partnership

As part of the Piping Centre in Glasgow, a small museum and AV theatre was created to display the Centre’s valuable collection of piping artefacts. The lighting includes conservation standard lighting within display cases and discreet illumination of graphic panels.

As the space is very confined, physically small spotlights were chosen to create a false sense of scale. To further enhance the sense of space, an artificial sky was created with a shallow curved soffit and concealed blue cold cathode lamps. The result is a feeling of a much larger space and one that avoids much of the sense of enclosure that exists in many black box exhibitions.
